Chapter 12
The Integrated Brain - Implications for Neuropsychological Evaluation
This chapter summarizes how the three brain regions, the cortex, basal ganglia, and cerebellum, work together in parallel in generating adaptive behavior.
It is proposed that these three brain regions can also be understood as comprising three different types of learning systems. These systems are described as unsupervised, reinforcement, and supervised learning processes. Future directions for neuropsychological assessment are suggested within this context.
